Heaven on Earth: Malumpati Health Spring and Tourist Resort


               Summer beaches are not the only fun places here in the Philippines, the cool waters and dense forest cover of Malumpati Springs in Pandan, Antique also attract foreign tourist and local residents from the town and nearby places. Malumpati Health Spring and Tourist Resort is located in Sitio Malumpati, Brgy. Guia, Pandan, Antique.

        Malumpati is a natural haven for peace, swimming and relaxation or even solitude for the Pandananons. Used as a pace to beat the summer heat, it is also an ideal hide-away from the hustle and bustle of a busy life.


            It is a natural swimming pool 20 meters width, 40 meters in length and about 3 to 4 meters deep at the center, crystal-clear water and free flowing from upstream to the shallow end, going down the famous Bugang River.

            Malumpati is a natural pool fed with cool and clear water from the different natural springs of the river. The resort is bounded by lush green vegetation and rock formations similarly close to Palawan in which nature trippers will surely enjoy.


            The spring is one of the major sources of the municipality’s water supply. They say cold springs have even medicinal properties for healing. According to studies, cold water therapy boosts immune function, decrease inflammation and pain, and increase blood flow. Some argue that a shower setting is suitable, while others say some level of immersion is necessary for real benefit.

            Here are some of the activities that you can do while in Malumpati: swimming and diving, picture taking and strolling, picnic, etc. Moreover, Malumpati is a must see and visit place once you get in touched in Pandan, Antique. In addition to the Bugang River, it has been given the “Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran” (Presidential Environmental Award) as the cleanest river in the Philippines. It had previously ranked number 1 multiple times among the “cleanest inland bodies of water” in the Western Visayas region.


How to Get There:

            From Caticlan, ride a bus bound for Antique. Get off at the Municipality of Pandan. Hop on a tricycle or a motorbike to get to the cold spring. The bus ride from Caticlan will take about half an hour and the ride from the town proper to the cold spring will take about 15 to 20 minutes.

            From Iloilo and Aklan, ride a bus or van bound for Northern Antique. Tell the driver that you’d get off in Pandan. From the town proper, rent a tricycle or a motorbike to reach the cold spring.
